ACRS has a long-standing partnership with the King County Bar Association (KCBA) and the Asian Bar Association of WA to offer a free legal clinic to ACRS. The clinic is part of KCBA`s Neighborhood Legal Clinic (NLC) program. The purpose of the NLC is to provide free and limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents and Washington state residents with legal problems in King County who would otherwise not have access to the legal system. The goal of the program is to make clinics accessible regardless of barriers such as income, education, language or disability. The Asian Advisory and Referral Service (ACRS) offers screening, advice and legal defense to Asian-American Pacific Islanders and anyone in need of immigration legal advice. As we strive to help in all areas, we will focus on specific cases, especially people in detention; survivors of domestic violence, torture and human trafficking; and other vulnerable people. ACRS also provides limited support in cases where we cannot fully represent a client. AALDEF focuses on critical issues affecting Asian Americans, including immigrant rights, citizen participation and suffrage, economic justice for workers, language access to services, educational justice, housing and environmental justice, and the elimination of anti-Asian violence, police misconduct, and human trafficking.
